Sampath Kumar professinally known as a Vishnuvardhan ,Sahasa Simha was an Indian Film Actor. He was Born on 18 September 1950 – 30 December 2009. Vishnuvardhan was born in Mysore, Karnataka in a brahmin family.
His father's Name is H.L. Narayana Rao and Mother Kamakshamma. His father was an artist, music composer and a film scriptwriter. His family made a living in Mysore's Chamundipuram. His father was known for his collection of musical instruments. Vishnuvardhan did his primary schooling in Mysore's Gopalswamy School and his middle school in Bangalore's Kannada Madari School. He attended high school and obtained his degree at the National College, Basavanagudi, Bangalore. He was married to kannada actress Bharathi on 27 February 1975 at Kuchalamba Kalyana Mantapa in Bangalore.
He had 2 adopted daughters, Keerthi and Chandana. Vishnuvardhan was a very kind-hearted person who did a lot of charity. It is said that he used to help people and request them not to bring up the topic in public, as he didn't want to become famous for the good deeds that he had done. After his death many such topics came out in public, as many TV channels showed people who were helped by Vishnuvardhan. Vishnuvardhan has one elder brother and four sisters. Sri. Carrer:Vishnuvardhan starting his acting career in "Vamshavraksha", directed by Girish Karnad. For this Movie Vishnuvardhan won the National Award. But the actor grew popular only after appering in the lead role in Puttanna Kanagal's Nagarahaavu. He appeared on television for the first time in the 1980s. Shankar Nag directed Malgudi Days and introduced Vishnuvardhan as the main character Venkat Rao, in an episode called "Rupees Forty-five a Month". His Hombisilu, Premaloka, Bandhana, Suprabhatha, Yajamana,Aaptha mithra, Adimai Changal (Malayalam),Nee Bareda Kaadambari, Kauravar(malayalam)have all had a 1year or a 1 and a half year run at the theatres. Vishnu has not stuck to any brand of movies.
During his career, Vishnuvardhan had to undergo lot of harassment, tension and sufferings.He had to withstand the test of time. He lost his father in 1973 shortly after the release of his first movie.In 1975, His sufferings worsened.But due to his strong willingness, mental power and patience, he emerged a winner. An untoward incident during the filming of the movie Gandhada Gudi led to many scandals. Everyone in the cine industry were aware of the truth.Misinterpretation of statements by the press further deepened the mystery. Due to this, there were obstacles for screening of Vishnu's movies. When Vishnu was out on a shoot, His family used to receive threatening calls and abuses were hurled at them over the phone.They were threatened with dire consequences.
Due to the pressure from his fans, Vishnu started singing in movies occasionally and of late,he has started singing devotional songs. The first devotional album sung by him was on "Lord Ayappa".The title of the album was "Jyothiroopa Ayappa" and was a big hit.His other albums were.
Vishnuvardhan died of a massive Heart attack on 30 December 2009 at Vikram Hospital, Mysore, Karnataka at 2:30 am and was later cremated at Abhinay Studio.
